If you are visiting: Describe the trip to your Sister School Community.: We took a bus-schedule-type plane ride to Yakutat. Our plane, a regular sized Alaska Airlines jet, was scheduled to stop in Cordova, Yakutat, Juneau, and Seattle.
If you are visiting: What are your first impressions of the community you are visiting?: Yakutat still has a ton of snow! There are less residents than I had thought.
If you are visiting: What were the best parts of being welcomed to the community?: We were supposed to have a huge bonfire on Cannon Beach, but we were rained out. So, we had a potluck in the Home Ec room. There was some delicious food! The enchiladas were wiped out quickly!
If you are visiting: What are you most looking forward to doing now that you are here?: I think most people are looking forward to fishing. |

| Destination Eleven: Our First Week Together |
| Closing circle thoughts from our team on the first exchange |
|
What are some of the important things that you have learned about your Sister Schools culture from this visit?: We learned that they are more quiet and reserved than we are in Wasilla. We learned they like to stick together as a little family.
How do you think that this visit has changed how you think about yourself and your own culture?: We're not sure, we're going to have to wait and see as the exchange unfolds. It's also a little difficult to say "Wasilla culture" because we are all really different and not all from Wasilla, and there isn't really a "Wasilla culture".
