My name is Brandy and I am 13yrs old living on St.Paul Island AK. My favorite sport is basketball, I like to play all sports. My friends are Janine, Janette, Jordyn, and Faneya. I like to draw cartoons. I like to go hiking here on St.Paul. I like to travel and I always wanted to go to Australia. My favorite color is GREEN. My favorite subject is math well that’s the subject I'm best in. The church I go to is the Russian Orthodox Church.
I live with my parents and brother. I have 2 grandmas and no grandpas. 1 grandma lives in St.George and the other lives in Seattle. I love to go visit them. Jordyn is my 1st cousin. My family is pretty big including all my aunts and uncles.
I want to go to Mt.Edgecombe for High school. I want to be a pilot or an electrician.
This week was exciting and a great experience for me and my classmates, at the very begging of the program I was hesitant about being in a larger school, but them after I met and became good friends with the other students when they came to St.Paul i wasn't so reluctant, i was more anxious and excited. Being at their school was alot different from mine but i wasn't a least bit apprehensive because I knew I had some good people that had my back and that I could trust them.
During the week I learned many things such as it takes 1million dollars to run a hospital each day, there are 24million gallons running out of Eklutna lake every day, there are many native culture programs to attend as a summer job(and that is a nice way to learn about your culture), and the most important thing I learned is that even though it may seem scary at first just keep going, it will be worth it in the end, making friends is the most exciting thing you can do and that you can always do better for yourself.
hey everybody, we're having a great time here at Anchorage, so far we did snowshoeing, it was nice to just go walking and was interesting to try and figure out the animal tracks.
we went to eat at McDonald, it is so delicious!T
he Fur Rondy was fun, we went on rides and it was so nice out, I like having the chance to go on some fair rides because we dont have that stuff on st.Paul. that day was a blast and its just the begining!
today we went to school at Begich and it was very big compared to St.Paul, but I like it, now more than ever going to a larger school sounds great, well, now that I kinda know what its like.
The Native Charter School looks like a great place to keep the Alaska Native culture Going, it was smallish but very welcoming. the school seems to be moving forward pretty well and St.Paul school might be considering to become a Native Charter School. I'm not sure exactly how it would be different from the way it is now, but it sounds like a fairly good idea especially to keep our Aleut culture alive. But on the other hand I like it the way it is now.
so far the trip has really got me to think about the 2 different schools, St.Paul and Begich, they are so different the schools but in the end we are all middle schoolers and its good having some good friends here in Anchorage.
Just thought I'd let ya know...We are gona do a fund raiser on friday, (Bake sale) the day before we leave, so we can have money to go H20, Begich students are doing thier fund raiser own in Anchorage.
YES! Only 4 more days til we go to Anchorage! Cant wait!
I really didn't think it would be this easy to get know our sister school's students, and didn't think I would become as good friend as I did with the students I did make friends with. I think its really good that I did make some friend because its always nice to have good friendships with people, and Rose Urban is a great program to make good friendships you might not have had if you didn't join the program.
it is so fun here, Cheyenne and them are teaching us some dances.
Tonight is the last night Begich students are on St.Paul, they are leaving tomorrow. I hope the days between now and when we leave to anchorage go by fast so we can see our Begich friends again. We are having a sleep over at the school and are playing lots of games, we are having the best time ever! So far the week has been great and so much fun, I hope we have as much and more fun in anchorage! duno what to write no more so...um... yah...Bye.
This Monday students from Begich Middle School came to visit St.Paul Island,it is great to have them here and see the pribilofs. We have so far toured TDX,Windmills,The Museum,Trident Plant,AC Store, and will soon tour our Russian Orthdox Church.
We went to go see the Time Bandit and meet the crew couple days ago, that was so awsome! We went to the Wizard yesterday and toured the whole boat. It was great to visit the Deadliest Catch and with the rose urban group too.
I cant wait until we have the big sleep over on friday its going to be fun. I really want to go to Begich and visit their school, cant wait 'till we get to go to Anchorage!
Can you believe it, its December here and almost no snow! It might seem weird but snow almost never stays until late December or January.
Just yesterday a boat got stuck on a sandbar in the harbor here in St.Paul. Tug from Dutch Harbor has to come pull them out today. 11-24-09
